Belated February 2026 Newsletter

BB Header February 2026

Happy February Beloveds!

I hope you're enjoying February, Valentines day weekend and the warmer weather after our snow and long stint of freezing temperatures. Apparently I missed sending out my January newsletter. Oops! Between celebrating my 75th Birthday and ending up in the last weeks of January into February having a 2 to 3 week nasty cold, I've been a bit out of it. I'm finally much better but still easily tire out. I was happy to stay inside and cozy with the big freezing snow we had; tissues and cough medicine by my side. LOL! What a delight to see sunny and 50 degree weather again! WooHoo!

I've been swept up by the journey of the Theravada Monks and their faithful dog companion Aloka in their 2300 mile Walk for Peace from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington, DC (picture in the Header above). They walked barefoot or in socks switching to boots in harsh weather. They added a last minute addition to the journey riding from DC to Annapolis to be hosted by Governor Wes Moore at Government House before traveling back home to Texas February 12th. The video of their homecoming in Fort Worth was deeply touching as was watching the thousands and thousands of people who came out to bow, cheer them on or meditate with them along their many miles. Here is a the touching video of them reuniting in DC with the Monk who lost his leg in a traffic accident on their Walk for Peace on November 19, 2025 in Dayton, Texas.

The lead Monk, Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara, encouraged all of us to say each day when we wake up: "Today is going to be my peaceful day." What a beautiful practice! I notice more and more the times my mind takes me to ugly frightening ideas in these turbulent times that take me away from any peace that may have been with me. Mindfulness practices are beginning to halt those frightening ideas. I let them pass through and less often buy into them. May we all find more and more peace inside.

Buddhist Wisdom

Wisdom from Eckhart Tolle and Adyashanti

I've found many wonderful teachings from my Facebook feed these days. Here are a few for you to bring more love and light into your days!

“In you, as in each human being, there is a dimension of consciousness far deeper than thought. It is the very essence of who you are. We may call it presence, awareness, the unconditioned consciousness. In the ancient teachings, it is the Christ within, or your Buddha nature.
Finding that dimension frees you and the world from the suffering you inflict on yourself and others when the mind-made “little me” is all you know and runs your life. Love, joy, creative expansion, and lasting inner peace cannot come into your life except through that unconditioned dimension of consciousness.”

~ Eckhart Tolle

Resistance – The Silent Energy Leak
“Resistance is the inner 'No' to what IS.
It is the most subtle barrier to the Timeless Now. We judge, we get irritated, we fight the moment because it doesn't fit our ego's blueprint.
But this struggle only anchors us in psychological time and drains our vitality.
Awakening is the art of Non-resistance.
When you stop fighting reality, you stop being a victim of circumstances.
You become the space in which everything happens.
Stop the war within. Say 'Yes' to the Now.”
~ Eckhart Tolle

"Meditation, in this sense, is really a state of discovery. Sitting in quiet and stillness and just being in a state of openness gives you a clear opportunity to watch what happens internally when you stop judging your experience, when you stop judging your mind for being busy, or you stop judging yourself for having a particular feeling. You don’t try to get rid of the feeling. You don’t try to get rid of the mind. You just let go of your judgment. You let go of trying to control the moment. For a while, you surrender into what is.

In these moments of stillness, whether in formal periods of meditation or otherwise, we can begin to let go of our conflict with what is. This is what meditation actually is: letting go of our conflict with life, dropping the struggle with who and what we are. Through resting in this way, we enter a state of nonresistance, where we’ll be able to have a taste of what it is like to live for a moment without judgment or conflict. With this as a foundation, it then becomes easier to access these moments of stillness and to let go of the illusion we have of control in our lives.

Especially during challenging times, we are conditioned to move into a conflictual relationship with life, where we habitually evaluate, judge, and try to control particular life situations. If, however, we’ve had some taste of what it’s like to let go, of realizing for ourselves the futility of trying to control things, then we can much more naturally develop a wider perspective on our experiences, even the difficult ones. In this way life itself becomes a meditation, and a whole new relationship with existence starts to unfold."

Happy Holidays Beloveds!

20251214 110721

I delighted in the snow covered day this past week from my safe warm living room. See above. I do enjoy this time of year with all the colored lights covering or peaking out from the windows of many homes in the area. There's a huge pine tree covered with Christmas lights as you come into Sudbrook Park near me. I was out shopping late enough (5pm) Saturday evening to finally see it all lit up along with several beautifully decorated homes along my way home.

There's chanting playing in the background as I write to you along with Christmas Carols playing in my head. Tis the season! I hope you're enjoying what December offers! Solstice is on this Sunday, the 21st, and the light begins to return. Yeah! I do look forward to the days getting longer!

Amazing Poet Reviews My Book's Intro

I have been in awe of Victor Maria Rincones poetry on Facebook. I was surprised and touched when he left me this response after reading my memoir's Intro:

"I haven’t read your book yet, but reading this felt like being trusted.

What you offer is not a polished story, but a living one - brave enough to include both the light that comforts and the shadow that teaches. Your willingness to speak honestly about love, desire, confusion, devotion, and healing carries a rare kind of courage: the courage to remain open when closing would be easier.

You inspire and intrigue me by the way you honor the body without separating it from the soul, and by how you let tenderness and sexuality speak in the same voice. There is no pretense here - only a sincere devotion to truth as it has been lived, felt, and earned.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m so glad and grateful you're You."

Along with this moving note he asked to chat with me on Messenger and we've been getting to know each other since. Please check him out on Facebook and read his powerfully moving work with the artwork linked to it. Much of the artwork he created and credits others for theirs. I was stunned to silence after reading "Solitude". Check it out on his Facebook page or contact me and I can forward it to you.

If you're interested in buying a copy of my memoir, Stripped Naked & Other Songs of Love, it's on Amazon under Books. The paperback is $29 and the ebook is $9.99. If you'd like a signed copy I can mail one to you for $30 in most areas of the US.

Happy March, Beloveds!

Hope you're having a beautiful loving day and, as the Walk for Peace encouraged us, intending to have a peaceful day! Lots of things happening in my life that have touched my heart and challenged me. I've recently lost two friends to cancer. First in early February, Carey Hillhouse transitioned after a long battle with breast cancer. She amazed me with her humor right to the end. And then this Monday my dear All Love friend Monica Sweidel transitioned into light. Her cancer took her quickly. She told me January 2nd that they gave her 1 to 4 months. Both of these amazing and loving women peacefully knew they were going Home. Their main concern was leaving their loved ones, thinking more of them than themselves. It was a deep honor and privilege to know them both! I feel them smiling at me as I write this. Please send loving prayers and comfort to their loved ones!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm relieved to report that my heath has greatly improved after recovering from a 3+ week cold. It will improve even more after my May 1st total shoulder replacement. My right arm has become more and more limited and painful. Now that I have my Reverse Mortgage I can afford taking the time to recover. It will be a big adventure living with no use of my right arm for 2 weeks. I'm right handed. Have you ever tried to brush your teeth with your non-dominate hand? It's not easy! LOL!
I will take May and possibly part of April off to recover so no May newsletter. Dr. Joseph Ciatola will do my surgery at Mercy Hospital. He has done both my knees and is a great and trusted surgeon. Prayers and Reiki are welcome for the highest and best outcome! Thanks Beloveds!
Wisdom for Today and Always
'All you need is love' is easy to say but often difficult to live. I've noticed when I really allow love to flow through me I feel at peace. But often other feelings come up and cry out for attention. When I try to block them they tend to grow louder. Here is a bit of wisdom I found on Facebook this month. No author was mentioned.
"HOW TO PROCESS YOUR FEELINGS
(Without Being Controlled by Them)
Feelings are not problems to fix.
They are messages to understand.
Most suffering doesn’t come from emotions themselves —
it comes from resisting them, suppressing them, or getting lost inside them.
Here’s how to process your feelings with awareness rather than avoidance:
1. PAUSE
Before reacting, pause.
Take a breath.
Slow your body down.
This pause creates space between what you feel and what you do.
In that space, wisdom can arise.
In Buddhism, this moment of pause is mindfulness —
the ability to see clearly instead of reacting blindly.
Not every emotion needs an immediate response.
Sometimes, it only needs your attention.
2. NAME IT
Give the feeling a name.
Anger.
Sadness.
Fear.
Disappointment.
Joy.
Naming an emotion reduces its power to overwhelm you.
What is named becomes observed, not possessed.
You are not angry.
Anger is arising within you.
This subtle shift reminds you:
You are the observer, not the emotion.
3. FEEL IT (WITHOUT JUDGMENT)
Sit with the emotion instead of pushing it away.
Don’t label it as good or bad.
Don’t rush to escape it.
Don’t shame yourself for feeling it.
Feelings are like waves —
they rise, peak, and fall when we don’t fight them.
In Buddhist practice, this is equanimity:
allowing what is, without clinging or aversion.
What you resist persists.
What you allow begins to soften.
4. ASK WHY
Gently explore the root.
What triggered this feeling?
What expectation was unmet?
What attachment was touched?
Often emotions reveal hidden truths —
unhealed wounds, unmet needs, or stories we unknowingly tell ourselves.
This is not about blaming yourself or others.
It is about understanding.
Awareness turns pain into insight.
5. RELEASE
Once understood, let the feeling move through you.
Breathe deeply.
Write it down.
Talk to someone you trust.
Sit quietly and watch it fade.
Feelings are energy.
If they are not expressed or released, they often become stored tension.
Release does not mean forgetting.
It means not carrying unnecessary weight.
6. SHIFT
After release, gently redirect your energy.
Toward calm.
Toward kindness.
Toward something constructive.
Not as an escape —
but as a conscious choice.
This is wisdom in action:
choosing peace over rumination, growth over repetition.
FINAL TRUTH
Feelings are temporary guests.
They come to teach, not to stay forever.
Suffering begins when you cling.
Freedom begins when you observe, understand, and let go.
You don’t need to control your emotions.
You need to befriend them — and know when to let them leave.
Nothing that arises is meant to be held onto forever." ~ Author Unknown
I hope this brings you some relief as we all navigate these troubling times!
